Fifty Plus (50+) - Celebration ride with Pie.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

DG has a new bike - Not only a new bike it is a NEW bike. In celebration of this startling Fact- I am going to suggest that all of us that have aquired new bikes in the last year go for a virtual Ride with DG next Sunday.
Milage is not important and neither is the route as there are too many of us still settling in to the saddles and sorting the bike to say we will do XXX miles. One important thing though- We have to have a stop somewhere on the ride for Pie.
I don't really see why it has to those of us with new bikes though.--Except if you do not have a new bike to ride- Then you have to have two pieces of pie to make you do a bit more milage than the new owners of NEW bikes

Humph, not only do I not have a new bike, they don't know what pie is down here. Well, I will have to teach our cook how to make pie I see and send one of my workers with a vehicle ahead so I can stop and have pie. ;)

Oh, I can't go Sunday :(
Is Saturday OK?
I have aquired two bikes within the past year, that are new to me. Both I built from new and used bits. If I qualify...I'm in.

Were all in and Saturday- Sunday doesn't matter. Just celebrate the Fact that DG at long last has stopped prevaricating and taken the plunge. And the rest of us as well of course.
OH, And we wants pics of the Bikes being ridden and the pie if possible.

I hope that just because it is a virtual ride does not mean we have to eat virtual pie.....I like peach, virtual is a bit tart for my taste. Count me in.

Sounds like a great idea. I was wanting an excuse to ride on Sunday. I'll finally be home and can ride my new bike. STRAWBERRY pie is popping up on the dessert lists in my neck of the woods.

It will hard to top Saturday's ride, which did feature pie, ocean air, and even some practice riding in the drops, but darn it, I'm going to have to go back out tomorrow and do it all over again.
I completed my first century on the Roubaix today. It only took six days. :D
Well it looks like the pie ride is gonna be a no-go for me.
Sunday being Mother's Day, (which I did not realize when I said I would do this ride) has got things somewhat in a dither around here. My kids and grandkids are all coming over early to spend the day with us. I can't really cut out for a ride so I'll probably hang around and play "Papa" all day Sunday.
When I ride next I'll be thinking of you DG. Congratulations on the new bike and your newfound roadie status.

I am going to regret this. Yesterday was windy and rain was forecast. Didn't ride yesterday but the rain did not come either. So today it is. The rain is promised by 8am and the wind is going way up the scale. 7am at present and no wind and a clear sky so I hope the forecast is as wrong as yesterday. No matter what happens- I am going out for a ride to celebrate an event for the 50+ forum as epic as Neil Armstrongs event.
Have set a new posting for ride reports so follow link to
