General Cycling Discussion - Going camping this weekend ... what should I bring?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My friend is taking my GF and me on a camping trip down south this weekend. Last time I went camping I was 8 years old. Please help!!! :D My GF and I were thinking of sleeping in the car and bringing our blankets because we don't have sleeping bags or a tent.
We'll be out there 3 days and 2 nights.
EDIT: Our bikes are coming along, of course! ;)

Beer is good to bring along on a camping trip.
A tent and two sleeping bags would also be a good idea; maybe you could rent them from a local outfitter.
Flashlights and TP are essentials.

flash light. some matches or a lighter, first aid kit, plenty of water. extra socks :) ( old army thing). and gordon's ideas are essential, beer is great, and no fun goin campin and sleepin in your car. extra blanket may be a good idea too depending on where your goin.
since your taking a car, not much worry about wieght so if somethin seems like a good idea may as well bring it.

I'd get a quick disconnect bike headlight so you can use it on and off the bike. Cars make great tents if you can get comfortable enough in it to sleep. You can lock up your valuables, keep critters away from your food and ride out bad weather. I'd just throw in any and everything I could think of. If you don't have to pack it somewhere, bring it.

This is why I like station wagons, minivans and SUVs. You just fold the seats down and unroll the sleeping pad... instant bed. Yes, I know many cars fold their rear seats flat but you often times still have an obtrusive bulkhead to get around so you can't fit two people.
Hey, Thanks everyone for your suggestions! The trip was FUN!! My friend let us borrow his two-person tent, so all I had to buy was the two sleeping bags and food. :D
Going again next weekend so I'll keep these in mind!

Try camping under the stars this next trip. Soo much easier not having to worry about taking the tent down :)
