Came upon a situation where a Dad had signed his 14 year old son (race age 15) up for Jr sport 14 & under class racing.... Dad insists the kid is 14. I am SO glad I don't have to DQ the kid from the few races he's already run, but am also glad that Dad had the foresight NOT to hang out for his son to attempt to pick up a prize at a race where he ran the wrong class (knowingly).

Sad to say, I would be surprised to see that boy again, and he was pretty fast; it seemed to be Dad's decision not to pay attention to the rules. Great parenting, huh?:(

Yeah, I walked by the results tent as they were discussing the kid being in the wrong class. Didn't realize that the dad knew about the class being wrong.

And off subject, Lowcel, where's your race report? I always like reading them. ;)

I spoke to the Dad at about 10:30. I knew I wasn't getting anywhere when he folded his arms across his chest and began to repeat "Thank you for that information" like it was a mantra.

Parents of kid-racers ARE the worst, aren't they? :D

How do you attach a bike rack onto that?

I remember overhearing a conversation like that at Mountwood when I was signing up my Son, age 12
(Race age 13). I believe my Son even knows this kid. Did that occure at Mountwood? Because if that
is where it happened, I will be sure to say something rudd to the Dad when I see him on the trail again.
Not hardly fare for my Son and others if that's the case.

Nice ride LC. Get a hitch and trailer, mount the bike on top the little trailer and haul all your other
gear, and camping supplies for the gathering in June. I pulled a trailer behind my motorcycle for
about 5 years and loved it. No big load on the bike and you can haul a bunch in those little trailers.

There are 2 in the 14 & under class that raced in the wrong class at Mountwood - I don't know what the Exec Dir. of WVMBA is going to do, but I'm sure he'd LOVE to hear from your son about his series points!!!

I should probably have my Son say something to the Exec.Dir. We rode with him last Wednesday and
yesterday. At least make him aware of it and if my Son gets to run enough races this year to bid for
the finals, that should have an effect.

The one guy that made a stink started to ride with the group last Wed. but came up with some excuse about a quarter of the way through that he had to go and him and his Son took an exit. Maybe
something was said. He wasn't back yesterday. ???? It is a shame that they feel that way. My Son
understood when I told him about having to race High School when he is only 14. He didn't have a
problem with it. He should have more of a complaint than any since his birthday is in December. :D

Oh well, life goes on. If he doesn't get enough races for the series he won't have to worry about it.
Thanks for the info. I just wanted to know why I heard them put the kid in HS and yet he ended up in
my Sons class.

We plan to be a Charles Fork.
