Yesterday, I was at a Wal-mart, and left the same time the bus did, he usually takes 10- 11 to arrive at a stop near my house ( I still have to walk 2 blocks) I took the same route as him, it took me only 9 minutes.

If you can hit 15 miles per hour on a steady pace, you can beat the bus. Most road bikers have no problem beating the lumbering giant but I do since my town bike is rather slow.

Unfortunately, we have entirely TOO many buses during rush hour and I'm sick of breathing in that exhaust

Yeah, bus exhaust fumes are definitely the worst (well equal to other large diesel spewers).

Anyway congratulations Crazy Cyclist, its a nice feeling beating the motorised amongst us, I mean not only are you quicker but you are getting a workout and being environmental at the same time.

Keep it up, Portent.

You know, you may have better luck meeting women on the bus rather then by cycling. :D

I beat the bus every day on my commute, and my route is 5km longer than the one the bus uses!

When I was in college, I went on "bus hunts" as a training ride sometimes :) On the short Express loop, I was able to gain a lap on it. On the "D" route, it kept dropping me due to all the hills

I've been faster than buses as long as I can remember, even when I was riding a Raleigh three-speed roadster in Edinburgh. In those days, almost all buses in Britain were built in the UK and so the exhausts usually vented on the right (off) side, away from me and into the middle of the road. Now that many are built in Europe, the exhausts tend to vomit straight into my face. I actually got road grit sand-blasted into my shins the other day when a Volvo B10BLE pulled away in front of me and blasted its exhaust into the road.

Man years ago, when I was 4, my father was taking my to gymnastics b the trollebus. So, one day, we got out on our stop and I noticed that I forgot a bag with shorts in the trollebus. The doors already closed and it took of. The next stop was about a km away and there some traffic. My father ran to that stop trying to catch the trolley, but when he returned, exausted and red, in 15 minutes. He said he didn't catch it. :D
So, Hhe didn't beat the bus, running.
