Fifty Plus (50+) - What Bike should DG buy next?

Let's see now, after he sells "The Diego" he will be down to his trusty Giant Cypress SX and his new Roubaix. That gives him a flat bar road bike and a fast, lightweight road bike.

Given that he has had 3 bikes, DG will soon be practicing some kind of satanic N-1 bike law.

Clearly he will need to be adding to the stable. What should he get?

Some ideas ...

1) A very fancy beach cruiser
2) A recumbent or trike
3) A full suspension mountain bike
4) A kinda combo of 1) & 2) in the form of a RANS crank forward
5) A BMX bike on which he can do tricks to impress women

I think an eye-catching cruiser, like the Electra Rat Fink or their Rockabilly Boogy, is a good choice. He's in the perfect location to cruise the boardwalk areas. It would enable him to make eye contact with the women walking, roller blading, or biking. The low seat would allow him to sit & be cool as he chats it up with babes. And he would be able to use the line, "Come back to my place and I'll show you my Roubaix."

+1 on the beach cruiser. Although, a nice time trial bike complete with aerobars would complete his fall into the Roadie Zone...

With all due respect, shouldn't I at least have the new Roubaix paid off first??? :D

I believe it was decided here that the N+1 law allowed for a 24 hour recess after picking up a new bike.

So it is fine if you don't give this any thought until tomorrow afternoon.

No bike at present. Now, no matter how hard it will be, we have to teach Gary a little about the mechanics of biking. Everyone should know a little about adjusting the brakes, changing tires, and.....gasp....perhaps even touching one of the barrel adjusters on a derailleur cable.

Perhaps keep the Diego and use it as a training tool.

My UO-8 could serve as a cyclocrosser, and it fits in nicely between my mountain bike and my road bikes.

My personal lineup:
1) moderately stiff, twitchy, fast road bike, built for speed (Bianchi);
2) moderately soft, comfortable road bike, built for distance (Capo);
3) commuter / cyclocross bike, built for utility (UO-8);
4) mountain / cruiser (Schwinn).

All of my bike needs are hereby declared met!
