I just bought a used giant OCR elite bike off ebay and am having it shipped to me. I don't know anything about reassembly. Can anyone recommend a shop that would do a good job putting it back together, possibly at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Have you considered putting it back together yourself? Knowing how your bike goes together can be extremely valuable if you break down a long way from home. Typically a bike can be re-assembled using a couple different allen wrenches. I've re-assembled my bike with a multi-tool in the past. Sheldon Brown's site and Park Tools will both help also. A torque wrench can be helpful if you don't trust yourself on judging the proper force needed when tightening things.

If this ain't your thing, then most any bike shop will do a good job at re-assembling a shipped bike. They build a bunch of bikes every day. Cost? I'd call a couple shops and ask. They might ask you "how dis-assembled it is" so you might want to call once the box arrives and you can take a look. For instance, if the chain's been broken apart, derailleurs off, headset completely apart, etc. If it's used, my guess is that most stuff will be on the bike and it'll only need to have the handlebars aligned/positioned and the wheels put on.

The one I go to for general mechanical work is Discovery Cycles on Anderson. I've also had good experience with Bucks Bikes on 183, Bicycle Sports Shop on 183, Waterloo Cycles just off Guadalupe near UT, University Cyclery at 29th & Lamar, and if you want to learn how to do it yourself, during the open shop hours at the Yellow Bike Project on East 51st. The other shops can do the job too but those are the ones closest to me that I use most.

I work at Buck's Bikes on 183 on Saturdays right now. We're a Giant dealer so lot of experience putting them together. ;)
