Northern California - I Care Classic I Morgan Hill, May 12th...??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is anyone doing this ride this coming weekend? I'm using it as an introduction to cycling to some friends so we're only doing the 20 mile family fun ride since they have never really gone farther than around the block on their bikes.

We need to get some "BikeForum" stickers for our bike to be able to identify other BF'ers on rides and stuff... one day...

Maybe I can get a BF jersey in time for the Giro de Peninsula: Giro de Peninsula (http://www.festafoundation.org/giro.html)

I'll probably go ride this one. A buddy of mine wanted me to go ride it with him.

I rode the 100 mile route today. Boy, what a well supported ride! Ton of rest stops (I think there were 9 all told), plenty of food and water at all the stops. Only one hard climb, right at the beginning so you can hit it while you're fresh. The headwinds were brutal on the return leg from Hollister, but I had a couple of buddies to paceline with.

Fun!

Plat - I rode the 25 mile fun ride with some friends that have never ridden that far before. So it took almost 3 hours to cover the "short" route. UGH!!! I didn't want to drop/leave my friends so I strolled beside them throughout the ride. I think we averaged about 9-10mph! But I think I got at least 2 of the 3 friends hooked on riding so the ride has a silver (albeit slow) lining.

The headwinds and the crosswinds weren't helping any but nothing too unbearable.

The only crappy part of the ride was when I went to turn into a driveway [to wait for my friends] that had lots of loose gravel. Before I knew I bit it and went down. Scraped the crap out of my leg and hip. But my pride took more of the hit! Doh!

Oh well... next time I know better... I hope!

I'm gonna plan on the Giro de Peninsula in June... anyone else up for it?
