"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - What is a Joe Friel "recovery week" supposed to look like?

probably about 7 hours of E1 and E2 riding. nothing higher than endurance power/HR. The excpetion is one day of skills (cornering, spin ups, bumping, form sprints) and maybe a TT test.

Oh poo. You beat me to it. I was going to make a comment about beer, beer and more beer.

Beer is the Belgian plan. But only for the carb loading taper phase. This is clearly margarita time! *cue mariachi music*

from what i gather it's a good time to do some testing and compare your results to the last time.
what i do is typically take an additional day off, do more e1/e2 rides, only 1 interval workout (shortened), and then do an LT test or a personal TT over the weekend and that's about it. of course, catch up on sleep and all that too.

So, do you basically follow the "3 hard weeks, 1 easy week" thing?
Do most people do that?

yeah, i try to. sometimes the schedule gets thrown off with vacations, work, etc. i just try to remember to take one week per month easy, usually toward the end of the month.

Gold. But where are the women? ..... oh, wait, that wouldn't be 'recovery'.
