my shimanos are have a really soft return spring, and i think something stiffer would treat me much better. i've read avids have stout springs, any others you'd recommend? i'm also looking at the cane creeks (scr-5 or something?)
any advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried making use of the adjustment holes on the mounting boss?

thats part of the problem, the fork only has one hole (bianchi axis fork). stupid design.

One hole? That is pretty dumb... I'm not sure if i'm qualified to call the Avid Shorty 4's stiff (since they're all i've used other than road calipers). I've set the front relatively light and the rears are pretty stiff (or equal to a road caliper feel) with mine.

i'm thinking about maybe trying to drill another hole, but i'm a little hesitant. it's the bianchi cf fork, but i think the bosses are alu or something.

why not bend the return spring arm out a bit, to give it more tension?

thats another option to try before drilling holes for sure...

I run Paul touring canti's on my Bianchi and they operate flawlessly. Easy to adjust too.
