Hey,
about to rebuild up this track bike I have, and wanted to do it with tubulars. Found a pair of Mavic gp4s for pretty cheap. Are they any good? I googled 'em, but cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Usually I roll on Velocity Deep Vs, or Richey Aero rims (both clincher). Any thoughts? Are they gonna hold up if I roll around on the street? I know the old tubular on the street story, but I think it will be cool. Lastly, are they fairly easy to build up? Velocities are pretty simple, and stay true.

GP4's are very good rims, build up well, last well, and do well on both track and road. They're one of the best tubular rims out there for reasonably durability and quality of ride. Hard to beat.

awesome rims. I have a set built like 20 years ago and still rocking as new. Good choice.

they used to be the heavy duty rim.

SSC's (heaviest duty)
GP4
GL330
GEL280

The (claimed) weights reflected the "duty-ness":
395? but made with the best alloys, whatever that meant
400
330
280 gm

GP4's were the choice for dirt roads, cobbles, and such if you didn't have $200 for SSC's (back when a Super Record group cost $400). You should be fine on them for any/all use.
