I lost my Garmin 305 on the Sacramento South River ride last night. It's probably gone forever, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Dude,
I was on the ride last night and saw the computer fall off of your bike. I yelled "Someone's computer fell off" a few times, and someone else also said it. If I remember it was about halfway between the freeport bridge and the rr tracks. It was a little fuzzy as I believe we were going 29-30 at that time. Quincidentely, I also lost my Garmin 305 a few weeks back on the same ride. I went back and back tracked and found it 5 miles back. I was lucky as I was riding on the right side and the mount opened to the right, so the computer fell off into the weeds on the right side. I did not click the 305 in fully, and the severely bumpy river road jostled it out. Unfortunately, I believe you were in the middle of the road when it fell off and it bounced in the center of the road, so you may not be so lucky. I would definately at least try to recon the area once before giving up. Good luck

Sounds like this route is the bane o' the 305.

Is the security of the mounting/closure system a design shortcoming? Is it fair to say the Garmin 305 Edge can be easily vibrated off a bicycle?

I've not had mine move at all... nor have I heard of anyone having any issues... its possible it didn't fully 'click' into its 'holder' and vibrated off from there?
