Yesterday, as part of my job, I did a strategic planning session with the board of directors from a senior center. During a break, I had the opportunity to speak with an 80 year old woman who asked when the session was going to be over. She wanted to get a bike ride in and still have time to work in her garden before the sun went down. As we spoke she said that being 80 was such a blessing. She no longer had a sense of obligation to anything other than what she deemed worthy. So, she volunteers, paints, rides her bike, works in the garden and listens to jazz. I can't wait to be 80.

Sounds great to me and I'm working on it! I ride bikes, volunteer, work in the garden and listen to soft rock. Now I just need to retire and reach 80 - 16 years to go:)

That's great - wonderful to meet people in whom the life force is strong, and who know what they enjoy!

Reminds me of an experience I had which I already mentioned in connection with another thread, so apologies if it's a repetition-

Back in 1990 I was a 36 y.o. keen runner, but also pretty busy so not as good at training as I should have been - anyway I finished the NYC marathon in about 3.40, and was pretty pleased. Just as I was about to cross the line there was a fuss of press photographers for the winner in the category "Males, 80 and over" who was finishing a few places in front of me, and in far better shape than me!

Makes you want to stay fit, healthy and happy, eh!

There's also this:

When I was in high school I was only attracted to high school girls.

When I went to college I was mainly attracted to college women but I'd still look at the high school girls.

When I was in my 30's I was attracted to 30ish women but I still noticed the high school and college girls.

Now I'm in my 60's. 60 year old women attract me like never before. I can't wait reach 80 because the older I get the more babes there are.
