Hello,

I have a Campagnolo Gran Sport crank, with 53 and 42 teeth. My rear wheel accepts a 6 speed freewheel. What would be a complimentary tooth range for the rear freewheel/cassette? I'm in Seattle, so it's very hilly. Thanks.

How 'bout this 1.5-step? If your rear derailleur can take a larger granny cog and you need something lower, go for it.

42 is about as small as you can go on the chainring but maybe think about replacing the 53T ?
althoughi suppose if there are long hills you want to descend at speed you might use it more often
