Anybody ever hear of this (no pun intended)? Check out www.rideofsilence.org
I haven't personally known any riders that have been hit, but it seems like a great idea for raising awareness.

Yeah. I had a friend killed while riding in Portland last September. I won't be able to attend any of the rides in our area, but I sent his name in to be read off at the beginning of one of the rides.

Here is the website for anyone interested in any part of the world.

Check it out. My son was killed in Palo Alto on September 8, 2006 and one of his friends is getting a ride together to honor him and the other cyclists who were killed in that area. Turns out there are quite a few honorees. That's sad, but true.
Thanks,
Mary Ann

There's one in my town I'd like to participate in if the pace isn't too fast. I still haven't swapped the knobbies for the slicks, and this novice doesn't want to get left too far behind if the pace is going to be fast.

Don't worry about the pace. It's slow and easy. Everyone and anyone with any kind of bike can and should do this ride. It's short (just 12 miles) and only 12 mph. So don't worry about getting left off the back.

Did you guys get a good turn out in your neck of the woods? In So Cal, we had good turn outs: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=295753
We only had 24 riders, but it was 43 degrees and raining. Still a great event for a good cause.

We had rain, wind and a big drop in temperature when I would have needed to take off to make it to the starting point on time, and it cleared up right before the start time. I hope they had a good ride, I figured I'd exercise closer to home then, and made it back home before the next set of clouds caught up with me.
