Fifty Plus (50+) - The Weak Link's one week challenge for unashamed public display of bibshorts.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

C'mom. You Know you want to do it. Floyd did it, Lance did it, INdurain did it, even Lemond did it.You know what I'm talking about.

In the seven days all 50+'ers are required to post at least one thumbnail of themselves in bibshorts. Awards will be given for the best overall appearance, with lesser prizes going to the folks who augment features of their anatomy for whatever effect they wish to have on the audience. A special "no jersey" class will be created for those who feel they have large enough pects to compensate for that god-awful beer belly you've sported around these parts. All poses must be on road ride, including the very beginning and the very end. All extraneous extras must properly color-coordinate. No Photo 'shopp 'trickery is allowed unless you can sneek it past us.

I intend to post my photo as soon as I get my new Lemond. I got bibshorts, Mountain bike jersey, and a whole lot of mismatched bike socks that can, with some training, resemble a boa constrictor.

I've worn bib shorts since I bought my first pair ca. 1985. You people should get over your fascination with others that wear them. This is starting to get weird.

One rarely discussed benefit of bib shorts is that they allow a great deal of surrepitious package enhancement. You remember all those mismatched bike socks that you don't know what to do with but don't feel like throwing away?

That's right. Stuff 'em on down there. See if the office ladies laugh at that. Especially if they really think you're packing seven pounds of anaconda meat, if you know what I'm saying.

And don't forget package enhancement. Do not, I say, DO NOT use cotton tube socks. They get all wet and can droop down and look really weird. I don't recommend wool socks either. It'll scratch the heck out of your, well, you know. Stay with bike socks. Never throw mismatched socks away. Use them for package enhancement.

You just can't do this with Fred shorts. With bibshorts, it's a snap.

Post-Ambien posting is really going to get me in trouble some day.
Nonetheless the challenge still stands.
I personally don't know what the hang-up is, so to speak. But I hate to think of all my senescent brethren going through their golden years with unnecessarily chapped hides.

<<Hey, who posted that picture of Phillip Fulmer?>>

I'd like to say two things to Blues Dawg. Seven straight possessions. Seven touchdowns. Not bad for a good ole boy!

Next year after Bobby Bowden retires and Mark Richt takes his place, you Dawgs will hire their own lard a$$ed coach!

Go Vols!

This is the "before" picture with me as an erstwhile mountain biker, complete with mismatched everything, baggie shorts, spare tire, and obligatory BF issue rapidly graying gootee.

OK. Here it is. I'm on the left. Your left. I'm wearing bibs. Can you tell? I hope I'm far enough away that I didn't burn any eyes...

One unintended consequence of this thread is that its motivating me to shed a few pounds. Then I'll able to climb them hills like a scalded monkey.

Stop holding it in and turn sideways.

a) There's nothing to hold in.

b) With my natural "assets", I'm afraid that my posing sideways in lycra could cause undue palpitations and shortness of breath amongst female BF members (and some male members too). :D ;)

That's dangerously close to laughter. I took the pic myself, the helmet is laying by the camera. Can't you see the reflection of it in my eyes?

OK.

I just got my bike from the LBS. I now have mounted red cages and have a (old) red helmet, red gloves, a red jersey (it's on order from Performance) and that's about it I think. I'll be ready to post a picture of the bibshorts (sorry, black) in a couple of days.

Have you heard -- they have invented digital cameras now. No need to wait for film to come back from the drugstore.

I took a real nice DIGITAL picture of my bibs today. Then I realized we were supposed to be wearing them. I'll have to try again.
