Vintage 1974 Raliegh Grand Prix Racer.
Very good condition for it's age. The large sproket derailer has been removed but could be restored so this is essentially a five speed for now. New tires installed but I still have the originals in decent shape. Not ridden much. 80bux.. good deal??

I don't think you'd have any trouble selling it for that on NYC Craigslist.

I'd happily pay that much assuming it's in as good a condition from six inches away as it appears in that picture. And Simplex Prestige front's are easy to get.

If it has the Brampton Flip-Flop track hub, that's worth about 80$ all by it's lonesome. Take look at the rear hub-- if there are two sets of threads on the side opposite the freewheel, that's it. The Brampton hubs were stock on some Grand Prixs.

Ahhh, my first "lightweight" ten-speed, received for Christmas in 1974 when I was 12! Mine was blue. Man, I was big stuff, after suffering the slings and arrows of Raleigh 3-speed ownership for the previous couple of years.

I'm pretty sure '69 was the last year the GP came with Brampton hubs.
The Gazelle-made Grand Prix sitting in my barn has a flip/flop hub, and I think it's '73-'74.

I stand corrected. I've had a '69, a couple '71s, a '74, and two '77s. The '69 was the only one with the Bramptons. Luck of the draw, I guess.

I've had several, and they've all but one had the flip-flop (I must be getting mswantaks!). I believe most were Gazelle made. I am unsure when they were made, however, the frames are long gone.

FWIW, I'd never even SEEN a flip/flop hub until this thing followed me home from the dump:D

If that were put on the Madison WI craigslist for $100 bucks it would be gone the next day.
