well its a project bike! its a schwinn supermatic. i got it from a buddy of mine for free, and i didnt even have a bike until now lol. its got to be at least a few years old i would think, but im not real sure, but ive disassebled it completely (except for the seatpost, which is SOOO stuck in the tube :( ) and removed the busted stickers. im also thinkin about painting it, but will it work on chrome? ive also got to replace the grips, the chain, and the seat & seatpost if i can ever get it out! well does anybody think its worth it? i do :)

I had that frame a long time ago and broke it. I claimed my warranty and Schwinn replaced it with... A team issue platinum frame (Jay Miron was riding for Schwinn at the time, it was his signiture model). Best deal I ever got.

If you like that sort of thing, then it is worth it. I personally wouldn't take the time, but I'm just lazy.

steel or aluminum seat post?
if it's aluminum DO NOT USE HEAT! Aluminum will expand quicker than the steel and will cause more problems. Try ammonia to break the corrosion (unless it was too big for the seatpost tube, then you're screwed!)

Free stuff rocks. I wouldn't try to paint the chrome though, I see that ending in heartbreak.

lol its steal but i used a vice today and torqued it right out ;) i decided im not gonna paint it, not really worth the time. i did polish it up a little with some chrome polish i had for my rims though. ill get a pic up when its all done tommorow

at least it came out with a vice...working with many vintage bikes it's AMAZING how many people didn't/don't grease the seat post...then the seat post becomes one with the seattube...my 1/2" drill w/ a 5/8 bit have done a lot of work gettin' the stubborn ones out!

It looks awesome, but it's weaker. So it's a win/lose.
