Check this one out. 700x31 panaracer knobbies on bowery. 44x18 FW or 17 fixed. A tight fit on the fork but good on the rear. For all the haters of the giant compact geometry-this thing rails on hard pack dirt and loose gravel. this is my commuter/main get out on the bike ride. I just tried out the fat tires for the "master planned bike trails" in my area. A mix of paved trail and desert soil loose over hardpack. Geared it down a bit and now a whole different ride. Once the tires wear i'll probably go a bit narrower.
Just thought i'd share my bikes update.

The Bowery is a tank, and that one has appropriate 'treads'. Nice.

that looks great man. I can't believe you could squeeze knobbies on there. Did you rattle-can your bike?

Thanks, Not rattle can. it is the polished al from last years model. one of the first things i did was rip the stickers off. The knobbies really help soften the ride of the aluminum. It is a real tight fit with these tires. I researched and found that ritchey, michelin, and vredenstein make some 700x30 cross tires that are like semi-slicks. i probaly do those up when the knobs are worn off.
