South Carolina: help! Rentals, Routes?

Hey folks,

I'm leaving Monday for a 2 week vacation on Edisto Island, SC. It was gonna be awesome - just ride, ride, ride in the mornings, and sit on the beach all afternoon. My goal was 1000 miles in 14 days.

But the monther-in-law just threw a wrench in my gears, and long-story-short: I may not be able to bring my bike.

So I need help, desperately - Where can I rent a bike near Edisto? I will have a car available to go pick the bike up if I need to drive a few miles to find one. I'm going to call them in the morning, but I'm willing to bet $$$ that the two rental places on the island only have beach cruisers.

Also, can any of you SC'ians recommend some good routes in the area? Good roads, scenery, whatever (I'm guessing there's not a lot of climbing near the coast :D)

The only bike rentals I know of in the Edisto area are beach bike rentals. There may be a shop or two in Charleston that will rent something more substantial.

Sorry. The only bike rentals around are beach bikes. You can ask any of the local shops but likely hood is not good. As far as routes.... Try lowcountryvwracing.com for some examples.
