Mountain Biking - Fox leg armor - Raptors and 991

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Which do you think is better? Purpose - urban, beginner DH, probably DJing.

I can't find the raptors but the 991's look good. Although read reviews on mtbreview before buying. Some peopl had problems with them slipping :)
I figured they were pre-2002 ones. I'm interested in the 2003 model. As far as the reviews go, I figured raptors and 911 are the best along with dianese.

Take a look at 661 for armour as well...very nice but sometimes an odd fit. :)

Take a look here..good prices and in cdn :)
Yeah, those are nice prices, but the reviews say they slide around. The thing is, I have a friend that has 60% off at a bike shop that carries fox armor. :)

Can you show me a pic of the Raptor...I seriously don't know what you are talking about.
As it is I would get the 991 they look best suited to djing/urban...I myself prefer the big full calf covering of the 661 set that is just solid all the way round :)

They look cool but I would be worried bout maneuvering in them. If you can try them out see how they work. If both seem fine buy the Raptors...they look great :)
The Raptors are the dopest, most extreme, mega-smashem up armor you can buy!
That's what I'd wear if I had a fat wallet..... but I don't ever crash anyway.

I bought the 911's and so far im not disapointed at all. I tried on the 661 race shin guards but I opted for the prior for a few reasons.
I like the 911's because they wrap all the way around your leg. Although there is no armor in the back, the neoprene has still saved me from the evil pin on the pedals a few times. Also, around the plastic shin protector which is fairly large is some foam acting as more protection.
If you were comparing the 661 race pads to the 911's I found the 661's to go down your shins farther providing a little more protection than the 911's. However, the 661's leave the backs of your legs fully exposed, which made me uncomfortable and opt for the 911's. I also felt the 911's to be more confortable than the 661's due to the neoprene material. I have taken them out 3 times since I bought them in warm weather and my legs got sweaty but it did not effect my enjoyment. When your riding hard you wont notice the extra material. As far as the issue with slipping, as long as you tighten the straps right and choose the appropriate size, then youll be fine. If you really tighten the top 2 strap (knee and upper shin) then they wont slip much. I also bought the extra large size even though a large would have been the ideal fit. The XL's, however, work fine.
As far as the raptors go, yeah thye look cool, but they dont look very confortable. Check out the 911's . Keep in mind that they will also be nice for winter due to the neoprene material.
