Will delete_radio's worst fear be meet when his 175mm cranks collide with pavement on a left turn? Stay tuned...

(please let me know if this is a dumb idea to ride with 175 mm cranks fixed. k thx bai.)

Go for it if you are used to crankarms that long. Just be cautious in the turns

You might just take a few runs around a grass field to get a feel for how much you can lean without striking a pedal.

Ran my 56cm Mark V on 175s for about a month w/ no strikes, and not especially noticable overlap.

165mm vs. 175mm: a whopping .4 inches

you will probably die.

I believe that people should choose the crankarm size that fits them. If pedal strike (or fear thereof) is an issue, get clipless pedals. Speedplays probably do a lot more to prevent pedal strike than shorter cranks.

I run old bmx 180's on an old schwinn sprint. I'll get a strike maybe once every two months and I have some WIDE pedals. I'm sure you'll be ok, unless you take super fast turns and you know nobody can ride SUPER.

With that pedal length, are you able to achieve a full rotation with your front wheel? My roommate's pista, and to a lesser extent his cannondale crit, get pedal strike on the front wheel whenever he turns more than 30 degrees. (he is using 170mm sugino 75's on 53cm frames)

he has *pedal* overlap? that I want to see
toe overlap sure, that's easy to deal with. When do you ever turn your front wheel more than 10 degrees anyway?

Pedal type matters more than 5mm in crank length... With clipless, you should be ok.
