Just a typical ride to work....the same 7 mile commute with an added 20 mile detour...
But, last night it rained. By 7 AM when I left the house, except for a few puddles, the roads were dry. The sky had but a few scattered clouds, just enough to make the sunrise breathtaking in my rear view mirror. The temperature was right at 70 degrees, and the wind was dead calm.
I rode along, keeping up a pretty good pace for an old man, just really enjoying myself. When I looked around, I got to enjoy one of the most beautiful sights you can imagine. In the foreground was a dark green soybean field. Behind that was a golden field of wheat stubble. And, for a backdrop, was the morning mists raising off the lowlands. It looked almost mythical! I only wish I could somehow describe to all of you what I was seeing, but I am afraid that my command of the Kings English is just not up to the task!
And to top it off, I even got to ride for a few miles with a real road warrior, which for me is a rare treat!
And the really bizarre thing about this is that as good as this morning was, I know that if I keep biking, it will even get better!
How cool!
