I am Kurt from Duboistown, PA (just outside of Williamsport).
Age: 38

I was really into cycling (road) years ago before I started abusing myself. I guess I should say that I started smoking back in 1983, but finally quit on July 20th 2002. Just for the record, I would like to state that if anyone thinks it is too late for them to quit, they are wrong! Lungs do heal.......
Enough about that. I really enjoy all types of riding and get out as often as time allows. I have some long trips planned this summer....hopefully the legs will be ready!
The technology of cycling has advanced so much since I was heavily into the sport years ago. Forums like this with experienced riders like yourself are invaluable learning tools.
Ride on!

Welcome to the forums! Congratulations on the smoking cesation; that is something to really be proud of! My husband quit (for the 3rd and last time) on 1/1/00...he figured that he could not get that date back, so has been inspired to be smoke free.

Enjoy your reunion with cycling! Liz

Hi,
I'm a former smoker too. Glad to have you here, just remember to add miles on gradually. I have to agree about bikes being better. They are just amazing.
If you want to organise your training look through the old discussions in the Training and Nutritution forum; paying special attention to my posts of course :)
