We will ride around 15-20 miles, through North Hollywood, Burbank, Valley Village, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, and Van Nuys, making one large circle and ending up at the beginning point, we always stick together, from beginning to end! (This is not the wolfpack hunt, no hills, lots of stops, cruise at a slow pace, lots of drinking, and flirting) DRINKING IS STRONGLEY ENCOURAGED!!!!!!!

Ok I hope this isn't too stupid of a question. But do the midnight ridazz ever ride in the daytime? or do you ONLY have organized evening rides?

I've never heard of any rides that weren't at night. Fewer cars..

But you might check the website...

http://www.midnightridazz.com/

There are other rides...

The rides don't usually begin while the sun shines, but if we're lucky it's shining when they end.

"official" Midnight Ridazz ridazz always seem to be at night. http://midnightridazz.com however, is a free and open place where anybody can organize and announce any kind of ride. A great many rides are organized at all times of day, and of course many members of the Midnight Ridazz massive put down thier beers and pick up the shades and sunscreen to represent during the daytime.

P.S. the quote "DRINKING IS STRONGLEY ENCOURAGED!!!!!!!" is from the monthly ride "Cruzz with Us" which is a monthly pub crawl in the Valley. CWU is affiliated with MR but should not to be confused with Midnightridazz, the second friday ride that has been happening monthly in L.A. for the last 3 years.

Midnight Ridazz Are Not Daytime Crawlazz

maybe not daytime crawlerzz but definitely daytime blazerzz... ;-)

What I have learned from this thread:

The KCET piece is really nicely written. It certainly portrays MR like a fun bunch of renegades -- something that I could certainly get behind.

MR rides happen too far away from me. That's ok, so do BF rides. I hate driving to a ride -- because I hate driving -- and I usually ride in the evenings.

I'm not a true roadie. (But from other threads, I have learned that I'm a total Fred. It seems to me that Fred and true roadie might be mutually exclusive.)

My fluid consumption habits are incompatible with true roadie-ness. Drat. Another dream shattered.

Brian ... if you put it out there in the MR site you may find people to carpool with from the IE.
Lots of people come out from Clairmont, OC, Long Beach, and on ocassions, San Diego.
I am sure there are ridazz coming out from Riverside.

Otherwise, you can always get your bike peoples together and start a Midnight Ridazz in Riverside.
I am sure it would be a hit.

That's a good idea. I've been trying to get more and more people I know into riding pretty regularly -- there are four or five of us now. I'll have to dig through the MR site more and learn. Definitely could be a hit around here.

re: my fluid consumption habits = too much beer = can't possibly be a *real* roadie. That combined with cargo shorts and (gasp) SPD pedals on a road bike!!

Just rode in my first midnight ridazz last night. Probably one of the funnest rides i have been on in my life. The only thing i really didn't were that some people rode like idiots, but they were not nearly as populous in the ride as this thread makes it seem to be.

Really, it was just awesome seeing so many people on ALL types of bike (full geared roadie, fixie, mtn, bmx, circus, and pretty much any bike you can imagine) getting along so well. I still dont understand the friction between different bikes. I ride fixed with almost all geared riders. I may look funny in my cargo shorts next to roadie shirts/lycra but **** it, we are all on bicycles.

Hey Brian, you should come out to our monthly Fri. night ride in Redlands. Couple guys from Riverside rode over last week for it. Pretty small group lately, but we're doing our best to grow it.

Check out the "Blatant Ride Promotion" link in my signature.

Haven't posted on this forum in quite awhile due to my newfound alliance with the Ridazz, but I'm not starting anything either.
Only reason I feel comfy with this group is due to the fact that I'm usually out on truck runs and everytime I ride, I feel like the stranger from High Plains Drifter.
No one on a bicycle except for me in the cities I go to.
So getting with this group every once in awhile makes me feel a little better and relieves some stress acquired from driving an 18wheeler and dealing with everyday freeway BS.
Also, this could be considered just another form of anger reduction in addition to my usual gym overkill trips.
IE.,ride bike 5-10 miles to 24Hr gym, run 1hr-1.5hr on elleptical, lift weights for 1hr-1.5hr, then ride back and chill.

It's not too easy to put together a Gypsy costume that doesn't get in the way of riding the bike..

Running two different threads in two completely different forum worlds.
I'm too "new-school" to know all of those oldie trucking references.
Maybe if I get my CB working, I'll start incorporating ZooBomb terms mixed with what little trucker lingo I've picked up.
