Foo - What's cool to wear off the bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

At work we can wear whatever, so I usually don't dress up all that much, but earlier this week I ran out of clothes, so I wore slacks and a reasonably nice shirt. Four or five people asked me why I was dressed up, so I think I'm going to start dressing up a bit.

I was / am a fan of the Converse All-star (not giving up my current pairs until they wear out) . Then I found these guys (http://www.nosweatapparel.com/index.html) they make an exact copy (down to the same tread pattern on the sole) only theirs is 100% union made and not in a sweat shop. Oh, one more thing, the logo is different
+1 on the converse. I personally love mine.

At my job, its supposed to between casual and business casual, I usually wear a nice pair of jeans or khakis and a button up shirt or golf shirt. Sadly, I'm usually overdressed compared to everyone else, but at least all the VP's know who I am!

Did the 80's really happen or is it all just a bad dream?
I would go EMO on them

I hear shoelaces are out, unless you want to be brutally shunned by society. They'll probably make a comeback someday, but until then I refuse to be caught with laces in my shoes.

Hot pink thong, semi-mesh kilt, knee-high unmatching socks, sandals, Members Only jacket, a monocle, and a rainbow-colored poker visor.

Clothes usually keep you warm. If you want to be cool off the bike, you have to get nekkid.

I wear blue jeans, boots and a tee shirt nearly everywhere I go.

That shirt better come with a "happy ending" $195 for a Polo shirt?

Never mind that I hate polo shirts in the first place.

Since I escaped Catholic school, I've never worn a shirt or blouse with a collar.

Wear your team kit complete with road shoes and tell them "no I did not forget my clothes, these breathe exceptionally well" when they ask.

Skip the cop. Impersonating one is a crime.
When I'm in slacks and a dress shirt I always hear the comment: "You goin' to an interview?" Or "Got an interview today?"
The funny part about your post is that I, too, usually wear stuff like that when I haven't done the wash yet! haha!

Goth != Marilyn Manson
Goth != emo
Its so rare to see the older well-dressed Victorian goths these days, people who actually have a pleasing appearance rather than dressed up as yet another club rat exceeding their eyeliner limit.

head down to San Marcos and get you to the Banana Republic Outlet store. Great prices, you'll look nice. I guarantee it.

You sound like that guy from Men's Warehouse.

Marilyn Manson isn't really "Goth" industrial metal perhaps but not Goth. Goth is much more Bauhaus, London After Midnight, and Crüxshadows than Skinny Puppy, (post "Everyday is Halloween.") Ministry, and Wumpscut. All great music and all played at Goth clubs, but there is a distinction, kind of like R&B and Soul. They get lumped together, but are separate things.
I concur with your observation, though. The "Baby Bats" as I like to call them just don't have the level of style the old schoolers had / have. The ones that stay tend to graduate from the tank tops and bondage pants they wore at last month's rave though, especially after someone ganks their glowsticks.
To tell the truth all of the stereotypes that people lump on Goths (over dramatic depressed loners with cutting scars) really apply more to Emo's.

I just wear whatever I find cheap.. tjmaxx or Ross is great... I love the irregular levis, just check to make sure the legs are even. I either do a polo shirt or a button up to work.. and some khakis or jeans.. I rarely pay over $25 for an article of clothing.
