I am now a father for the second time.
My son was born this morning at 1:30 EST this morning.
We have yet to determine a name and don't have a weight yet, but he scored a 10 in his APGAR.
He was born at home with a natural, no-pain meds birth.
His mom is doing fine. She tore a little, but she is being sutured right now.
His big sister (2.5 y/o) seems to be taking it well. She doesn't seem too jealous of him nursing. We'll see if it stays that way.
We are very, very happy and wanted to share.
Fred
Edit: No name still. His length is 18.5 and his weight is 6 pounds, 7 ounces.
Edit: We have named him. 3 names. Bodhi Em Douglas. Bodhi is a name we really love. Em is his maternal grandfathers name (Veitnamese). and Douglas is mine and my father's middle name.

Aw congrats, lecterman!!! I can't wait to see the pics!!
You know what works real well? If you tell your daughter that the baby is hers too. I have said that to a couple of my friends kids when a new baby was born. Instead of being jealous they were very helpful and loving. :)
Hope Mrs lecterman is resting well.
Congrats lecterman on the new addition to your family. I hope baby and mother are resting well.

Congradulations!!!! What a Mother's Day gift. :) Don't worry about the 2.5 year old, she might even want to help with her brother. Let her get some things to hand to Mommy, so she will feel important and helpful. This helps out a lot. Take care and let us know when you deside on a name. :)

Thanks everyone. Lectermama is doing fine.
She's not super excited over the tear, but she her birth experience with our first child was utterly forgettable, and this time she got what she wanted.
We're still working on a name.
I actually suggested Ghiasallo (patron saint of cycling), but got turned down.:)

Sorry to hear about the tear. That can be extremely serious, but it doesn't sound like that's where you guys are.
But congrats on the new child. We have two and watching them laugh together is a constant joy.
How about "Lance"? He came out of a painful experience and there were no drugs involved.

LOL, I figured you would work Merkin into your response. I can see you contorting into it as Gordo would say. :)
I have some names I like, but ultimately I want us to both like the name.
I can't wait to give him his first bath and use his sister's "I like to trike" baby towel:)
If they only made team kit onsies. I'm not sure which team I would get though. Maybe Team RyanF so he can drope the hamer when nursing.:D
I have been missing having a baby to snuggle, as Ryan turns three in August. I no longer have any babies. Try to find out a way to bottle essence of asleep on the couch with your son on your stomach and I will buy some from you.
Congratulations! What a handsome lad!

Based on his headgear he must be a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Fat chance :) Happenstance as far as headgear.
He will be a Titan's fan, just like daddy :D

Yeah, I would not mind having one of those onsies.
My mom did the crochet BTW. One of her many talents.:)

Good Morning Fred and Family. Happy Mother's Day to your wife. The little one is cute, has to take after his Mother. :) I thought maybe by now you would have a name for the little guy. Any way, any name the two of you pick will fit him.

If you're partial to the name Alexander, you can have it. I've always hoped to name my first son that, but I'm still far from being able to use it myself...

We have a name. 3 of them actually. Bodhi Em Douglas. Bodhi is a name we really love. Em is his maternal grandfather's name (Vietnamese), and Douglas is mine and my father's middle name.
I'm glad I can finally call him something other than baby.:)
