General Cycling Discussion - I need an SPD shoe, wide, for general use.

As the title stated i need a shoe that is SPD compatible and has WIDE sizes.
The kicker is that I'm looking for one that looks like a normal sneaker, and for
the REAL long shot, for under $80.00

Lake has a wide version and Nashbar has them for well under 80 if you happen to fit their limited number of sizes. Jensonusa has most of the sizes but you are going to pay near MSRP. I have a pair and am mostly happen with them. But I am currently trying to solve a problem with hot foot. Strange it is only occuring on my right foot. Right now I am playing with the poition of the cleats. It solved the same problem with my Shimanos.

The problem the fellow member's suggestion is availabilty, the stated stores are out of wide sizes,I checked a few times.That's why I ordered and received mountain biking shoes from Lake,they actually HAVE shoes in stock, wides....Mine cost a hundred, they have many models,some LESS $$, some more. I was losing too much time searching to no avail, I sprung the "extra" fifteen bucks. I use them in toe-clips,on alum. platforms and will cleat/use them for Frogs, they will work well with the Frogs I know.I'll use them on a rod bike. Mine are the MX165,they run TRUE to size, Shimanos run the same size according to the Shimano site,some on-liners skip half sizes.

You might want to try specialized bg comp mtb shoes doesn't look like a plain shoe
but mighty comfortable and only cost me roughly $70.00 . I where a 3e or 4e shoe normally
I also have hammer toes , I was also amazed by the fit of this shoe.

OK ..NOW I see it..Why a kicker,why 80 bucks OK you absolutely possitively can't afford 90 ???.Lake has 'em for that.have YOU checked or have I just entered the land of ridiculous requests ? Got another curve-ball to throw young man ? I guess it's e-bay for you Mister.

You're buying cycling shoes--grow the f*&% up and stop caring what they look like. "Normal" appearance almost always in my experience comes along with structural compromise, like a sole that's insufficiently stiff to protect your foot from the pedal. I'll add another vote for Lake shoes, and bite the bullet and look at Carnacs, too--made in Europe without slave labor, and durable to beat the band.

I have a pair of Shimano SPD MTB shoes that I use for commuting on my road bike with. I've also gone touring through the Netherlands and walked around Iceland with them. In short, they work well as cycling and walking shoes. They look very normal except for the velcro that goes over the laces at the top of the tongue.

I am not sure how wide you need, but I have a wide foot and these fit me:

The are relatively "normal" looking and fairly easy to walk in.

I have Cannondale Roam shoes, size 48, and I usually wear a 12W US shoe. They look pretty normal and are comfy. I wear them every day, all day at work. I hate carrying an extra pair of shoes! These are on their second season of commuting and wearing around work and are showing minimal wear.
