Hey all.
I also posted this on the commuting and mechanics forum.
I recently ordered a Tubus Cargo rack from Wayne at the touring store to commute with and do some light touring on my single speed. When I went to mount it, I noticed a problem. It seems that the rack is made for a bike with much wider dropouts. The space between the two lower attachment points is, if I measured it right, about 160mm (seems really wide to me...). My dropouts are 122mm apart.
Now, tubus provides some spacers to fix an issue like this, but even with the spacers I still have a significant distance between the rack and the eyelets (a centimeter or so?). I think I can get some more spacers in there to fill the space, but this would require a longer screw for attachment.
Would a longer screw be able to hold up to touring? It seems that the longer the screw, the more likely it is to snap under load.
Any other ideas? Thanks
