Foo - So my first century is next week...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
And I think maybe I just might actually possibly be ready. I rode 66 miles today with 2,500 feet of climbing (the century has about 2000 feet total climb). I did the ride here in Reno, so elevations ranged between 4,000- 5,000 feet. The century is in Lodi, elevations range from sea level(?) to 2,000 or so.
Like I said, I think maybe possibly there is a chance that I am ready.

Most likely there will be a good sized group at the century ride. On a relatively flat ride like that I think you could get to stay in a group going your pace and really save some energy. Just remember to eat and drink and stay within your comfort zone while riding and you will make it no problem. Don't forget to smile for the cameras as you ride by.
Thanks wnc. I actually am probably physically ready. I rode a mostly flat 70 two weeks ago and felt pretty good. Now if I could just convince myself....

Just a point of note, do NOT wait until you are thirsty.
IT"S TOO LATE!
You're already dehydrated!
Your sense of being thirsty is your bodys warning sign.
Take a drink every ten minutes or so, and do NOT over do it.
The excessive liquid will just pool in your stomach and is not a very comfortable feeling.

Sounds to me like you're ready. It's not like some bizarre physiological phenomenon happens when you get to mile 99. :D Don't make it a race, and you'll do fine.
