Im alright. I couldnt ride or even drive because I had some metal removed from my eye. So lately it seems like its one thing after another keeping me off my bike. Its really beginning to piss me off.;)

Unfortunately it kinda happens from time to time in my job. But this time was worse. I ended up going to the emergency room friday night at midnight. They removed the metal, but couldnt rid of the rust ring that developed on my cornea. So patch on the eye they send me home at 2:30am. I get no sleep because it hurts pretty bad. Back to see a specialist sat at noon. he drills, yes drills the rust ring out of my eye. Puts a new patch on my eye and sends me on my way. I had hopes of riding sunday, but my eye couldnt focus due to the drilling. Today is is almost back to normal. I can drive again, but will wait one more day to ride, I dont need the wind in my eye. Oh, did I mention that I had the dentist drilling on my teeth on friday too. It was a rather uncomfortable weekend to say the least.

On a good note, my wife is coming back from Boston tomorrow. She has been gone for 3.5 weeks as she donated a kidney to her brother. I sure have missed her, and am very excited to have her home to help with all the chores again.:D

Ugh, that hurt reading it ... hope all goes okay, and that you'll be ok by the time Memorial Day weekend comes around.

Should be back to 100% by tomorrow.

This is a bump up for the thread. Several of us Socalers will be in the Bay Area next weekend and the boys have put together an outstanding ride for us.

Should be a fun day for the group so come up and join us! Pix to follow afterwards...no surprise since ME will be there.

Check the thread linked at the beginning of this one.

Where are we meeting? If possible can I have a physical address for the directionally challenged.

Ok here are the simple directions:

From where you are, go this way and that way. Turn at the corner...no, not that one, the next one. Get in the right lane and pull into the driveway.

Or at least this is what the Nocaler's told me, assuming I too was directionally challenged.

The start location has shifted a couple of times so I'm not sure where it is.

There isn't actually a physical address. It is a the park and ride lot at the intersection of Page Mill Road and Arastradero Road in Los Altos (I always thought it was in Palo Alto, until I did a google map on it).

Directions from Morgan Hill (since that's where ME is also coming from):
Head North on I-101
Take the Hwy 85 exit towards Mountain View/Cupertino
Take I-280 exit towards San Francisco
Exit Page Mill (towards Palo Alto)
Keep left at fork, and follow signs for Arastradero Rd/Los Altos Hills
L Page Mill Road
Pass the I-280 freeway
Immediate next street, hang a left, then immediate right into park and ride lot

Still confused? We could meet at my place and everyone can follow me.

Thanks. Those directions will work for me as well since we're just an exit or two down from MH.
What time are we meeting and what's the expectation for approximate finish time?

For those coming up from Southern Cal, don't let the sunny weather fool you. Even though the weather in San Jose or Palo Alto may be sunny, the weather can turn sour very quickly, once you get over the hill. Be sure to bring the usual arm warmers, leg warmers, light jacket shell. It is not uncommon for the climate to drop by 20 degrees.

Thanks, Ron, I'm bringing my base layer, arm warmers, knee warmers, parka, etc. :D

It got a bit chilly yesterday when I was down in the canyon, but not too bad.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just checked NWS is calling for overcast skies and cool temps in the 60's on Saturday out near the coast.

For our part, it's very cool and overcast here in Socal today. We had hard drizzle at our house. No sun is expected for several days.

I'm glad you pointed this out because I doubt I would have brought everything with me in the car Sat morning. I'll take it all and then decide what to pack on the bike when we take off.

No problem, Sheldon. Just letting you know from my experiences. The bay area has a lot of micro-climates, which can catch you off guard very easily (from personal experiences).

We get the same. Last Saturday, I rode from my house to Mulholland and the Rock Store climb under cloudy, foggy skies. By the time we reached the top of the hill, the sun was out and we had blue skies but the coast, just a few miles away was socked in. Upon descending back into Westlake, the overcast was back. So, I'll figure on carrying arm warmers and a wind breaker, maybe stick some glove liners or head covering in the jersey. Any reason to have leg warmers? Seems to me with all that climbing, it would get pretty warmish.

I dont know about leg warmers. It can get chilly in the canyons, but the short loop avoids those anyway. Depends on how you deal with the temps. I doubt it will be any cooler then 62 in the colder areas. I got chilly yesterday, but not bad enough to make me wish I had more clothing. I think a wind breaker would be sufficient, or perhaps just arm warmers.
