These threads were floating around in the roadie forum, so I thought it might be fun to try it here.

50 mile group ride (8 of us) from the courthouse in Farmington out to Antelope Island and back. Very flat, perfect weather, decent roads, I was on a tandem with my 9-year-old daughter. Everyone did well except it almost killed me every time the group accellerated. This isn't my photo, but the causeway looked about like this yesterday:

How about the rest of youse? The "Sunday" format might cull the herd in Utah, but some of the faithful may have snuck out--don't worry, we won't rat you out! And how about you heathens in Colorado, Kansas, etc.?

Cheers.

edit: sorry about the size of the photo!

I was planning on riding my local training loop before a mother's day bbq but my bike developed a flat. Fixed the tire and rode to my mother in-laws house 9 miles away. Still, it was a gorgeous ride. It did feel a tad strange riding my tarmac in regular clothes.

I rode 145 miles on Saturday. Was supposed to have a nice little ride with my wife on Sunday, but she decided she didn't feel like going. So I just took the day off.

I hardly ever have a day off the bike, it was kind of strange.

Bah. I'm not that bad, you just have to remind me every once in a while that not every other cyclist out there is an inhuman freak like me. :p

You should have seen the group I was pacelining with for the first half of my brevet... three of us, and a group of 3 about a quarter mile ahead of us. We hit a flat, and can see them in the distance. Someone says 'Man, I wish we could catch them and just hang on their wheels'... Me: 'We can, c'mon!'

I sprinted at 30 mph, dropping slowly to 26 mph and caught up with them... look back, and the other two are about 1/8th mile behind. Took them another 10 minutes or so of working to catch up.

Too bad I let myself get dehydrated... I fell apart at about 90 miles. Still made 100 miles in 5 hrs 18 minutes, though. :)

So... anyone wanna go for a ride?

Yup. You aren't that bad. Just playing. :p

However, you should feign troubles climbing a hill when the other rider is about ready to faint but you look like you are ready to yawn. Again I kid. ;) :D

Re the question: of course. I am always up for a ride. It is more a matter if my schedule is up for it. After Tuesday I will be booked until Monday with family obligations.

No bugs to speak of, and only got a whiff of that smell a couple of times, mostly along the causeway. I didn't go much past the marina, though, so I don't know what the bug situation would be like on the west side of the island. Don't know how much longer it'll be before the flies show up, though.

There were quite a few mtb folk out there on Sunday.

I'm jealous. I work Sundays.
Any of you guys doing the SL Century this weekend? I was going to but have to bail out.
Hey Second Mouse, I passed some folks staging at the Farmington court house some saturdays back, was that part of your group?

i rode fort collins:estes park:glenhaven:fort collins. its my default sunday ride if i cant think of anythign else to do. beautiful warm day but windy in the mountains.
i'm breaking in a pair of sidi genius loricas and that was my second ride in them. theyre light and stiff and smooth but ever so slightly too narrow. kept dousing them with my water bottle all day to soften the leather. seems to be working, they were much better this week than last week.

34 to estes is my favorite stretch of road in colorado. just beautiful.

i got married in estes at the end of april... rode up to the lodge for the ceremony:

Hey JF1-

Nope, that wasn't our group, last Sunday was the only day we've done that ride this year. It is a pretty popular route though, I think. No SL Century for me this weekend. Looks like it'll be a good ride, if a bit warm.

Cool shot, badhat!
