Hello all,
It's been a few months since I last posted in search of road bike... and still no luck! Until today... I came across a used 2003 Specialized E5 SWorks frameset (52 cm) that was built up by the current owner:

The seller wants $1100 for it... is it a good deal? Help!
Thanks.
any more specifics on the components?
what type of drivetrain, headset, stem, handlebars, seatpost, and pedals?

I know nothing, but it looks like a decent deal to me...
Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Specialized-Sworks-Tarmac-E5-60cm-Campagnolo-Eurus-WCS_W0QQitemZ170110728066QQihZ007QQcategoryZ98084QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Granted, this is 3 years newer and has campy parts.... but I would say that yours is a decent deal. DA components, Deda bars, and Look pedals make it very attractive.

Kind of up to you to decide. Its not a bad bike. I kinda like a matching wheelset. But Dura Ace and Deda are good stuff. If your gonna do any climbing you will want a new cassette. If it fits you good Id say go for it.

I think this one is aluminum.

Thanks guys, I'm in talks with the seller with a few additional questions and negotiating the price. If I get the bike, I'll let you guys know.

the frame is aluminum and the fork is carbon. one of the reason i'm attracted to this bike is that it's aluminum and not carbon. not surei want to get a used carbon fiber bike that is three years old.
i've heard good things about the E5 frame... that was my main attraction.
I'm going to chime in here - Al frame with DA 9-speed, I wouldn't pay more than 500 - 600. 9-speed is several years' old tech, and although it may be well-maintained and completely serviceable, it's not worth much. You can get a new Ultegra10 bike with Al frame, carbon stays and fork for $1100, or a comparable 105-equipped ride for about $800-900.

Based on ebay prices, it is worth about 800-900 for Ultegra and 1000+ for DA group.. Since it is a mix of components I would say 1k would be my top price.. Check the frame for any dings or dents and go from there with your offer.. I have been on both sides of sales and sometimes you show up and it is in good shape and then you find sellers who are trying to offload a problem bike.. Just be thorough when you inspect the frame.
I'd pay 500 for the frame. The rest of the stuff isn't worth much. DA is nice and all but it's 9 speed.
