Alt Bike Culture - Alt bikers in Europe?

Hey, I'm an eastvan bikesexual heading out on a 5 month tour from amsterdam to istanbul - I'm making it one of my goals to explore European bike culture and to engage in international bikecultural exchange (sharing my experiences from the westcoast in vancouver/victoria, Seattle, and Portland).

Anyone know what's up in europe? I know they've recently started a version of the midnight mystery ride/midnight mass/ midnight ridazzz in Paris (http://eclipcycle.wordpress.com/)
What about choppers? Bike polo? bikers at least half as crazy as the zoobombers?

There's some good hills in Barcelona with funicular service, similar to the light rail in Portland, and I know there's some downhill gravity biking going on in Spain; but so far I don't think anyone in Barcelona has put together anything as crazy as ZooBomb yet, although the potential definitely exists.

The World Naked Bike Ride also started in Spain four years ago as Manifestación Ciclonudista (http://www.ciclonudista.net/inicio_en.htm) in Zaragoza, Catalonia.

You should also check out Fat Tire Bike Tours (http://www.fattirebiketours.com/) in Paris, Barcelona and Berlin. They lead some great bike tours for english speaking tourists, and their staff are a buncha bike punks from the US, Canada and Australia.

By the way, it seems like Germany has an active Alt Bike community too.

I've heard that in Europe (France, Germany, and other countries also I believe), cruiser bikes are really getting big.

As far as links, I'd follow links on the WNBR site to individual cities, maybe try using the Critical Mass Directory in the same way; someone once posted a link to a Spanish Gravity Bike site on the ZooBomb web site, but the site was in Spanish (duh!) and I don't think it's current anymore. Solid Gold recently spent a year in France, I think his impression was that there really wasn't much of an alt bike 'club' scene there, outside of perhaps Paris.

the spanish g-bike site joined a bigger org over there, but i cant remember the intitials, they dont deal w/ alt bicycles, only speedy things. randy is right, i need to grow up, but i just cant tear myself away from you ppl and your weird cycles! i just got a bunch of work done on my rat today, made a good thrift store find, for 5 bucks and two hideous rims/tubes/tires, rebuilt the front hub, the coaster brake works fine, and i got some part off it for other projects. fantastic! fast eddie outty
