Has anyone been down the los Coyotes Creek Trail recently, or at all? I searched and came up with nothing.

I am trying to decide what ride I want to do next weekend;

1) Fullerton/Placentia to Los Coyotes trail to Huntington Beach to SART

2) Santiago Canyon, Aliso Creek trail, Laguna Canyon Rd, PCH, San Diego Creek.

Any insight would be appriciated, thanks.

I know nothing about the trail, but I do welcome you to the forums. :D

I ride Coyote Creek all the time (well, quite often). What did you want to know?
1. It's safe, relatively good pavement
2. I get on from Foster Road / Valley View (where it starts). From there to Seal Beach is 15 miles (well, that's from my house in Whittier, so maybe 14 miles).
3. Nothing scenic until you get to the (unpaved) creek after you've hooked up with the San Gabrial Trail.
4. No easy access to water and/or restrooms.
5. Your "Option 2" above is a far nicer ride!

Just my opinion!

It starts on Valley View? The map I am looking at (Franko's OC map) shows it starting up by Imerial Hwy and Beach. I was mainly considering this option to keep me from driving. Santiago Canyon is really nice but it can take about 30 minutes to reach from my house.

Thanks for the two quick replies, keep 'em coming; I have been on here for some time but usually stay quiet.

We also start at Foster. This seems to be the begining or end if you will. from there to the San Gabriel river trail, then onward to Seal Beach.

Thanks, I found Valley View & Foster on the map, interesting this map shows the path starting right at the corner of beach and imperial, a quick check on Google earth shows a flood channel although it's tough to tell if there is a bike path on the channel

Agreed. I ride "option 2" all the time. I ride SART quite often too, but it's boring!

Yes, it starts off Foster, I should have been more specific. I just access Foster from Valley View since I live in South Whittier.

For me, Coyote Creek is an easy ride, good recovery ride, close to home, no cars . . . but not what you would call "scenic" by any means! I usually ride my single speed on Coyote Creek, so it's into a headwind going to Seal Beach, and with a tail-wind on the return (Santa Ana Wind times excepted!).

So if you see some old guy (57) on an old MASI ('77) single speed, that would be me!
