I am considering getting a Giant Trooper or Tourer to use this coming summer in China. Can anyone make any recomendations. The components seem to be a mix of Delore and Alvino, it says Acera on the website. It seems to be one of the only two Touring models that Giant offers.

The other is the Tourer, it is listed as coming with Altus components.

Well, I think I am going to do it and get the tourer. I realize that it is no great bike; however, the selection here in China is real small.

is that a dynohub on the tourer? they both look like they'll get the job done. they are so similar I'm surprised they have different names.

Do they come with Cannondale-like Headshoks? That's interesting.

Yes, that is a dynohub on the cheaper model (almost 900RMB or 125USD cheaper)which is th eone I dot, the tourer. It is not a headshock, even though it shows that on the website, it is a more conventional lightweight suspension fork, a NuGround.

I havn't started playing with the fork adjustments (the manual is in Chinese; but, I can still use the illusturations). It seems to be about where I want it. Thsi isn't a mountain bika; and, as such, I do not want a lot of fork movement. On the ride home, which included some rough pavement and one "over the curb" it moved about 2 cm. It seems a lot better then the Medeia I have been riding. I will keep the cheaper bike for riding on campus.

Price was 1995RMB, or, about 250USD.
