I have a Cannondale Synapse Carbon 2 and have had it for over a year now. I've never had any problems with it and it rides fine. Yesterday when I went to do some maintenance work, I took the crankset off and discovered some scratches and a nick on the chainstay. It looks to me that the chain had popped off at some point and gouged some paint but the gouge looks deeper than the normal carbon fiber paint damage I've gotten used to painting over with nail polish.
Anyhow, I've taken a picture of the damage and want to see what other people's assessments are:

The one that worries me is the one on the bottom, with some white showing through. I've painted over it once with some clear nail polish.
The only difference between this and other ones I've seen before is that it's deeper and I can see white under the blue. As far as I know carbon fiber is black so the white is probably the paint that the blue went over (the bike is blue and white). My intuition is that it's nothing to worry about but I know very little about carbon fiber. Maybe I've heard one too many warnings and stories about catastrophic CF failures.
Please tell me I'm being a doofus.
Thanks.
