Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I noticed that VBT has a new biking trip to South Aftica this winter. It looks very reasonably priced and their tours are top notch. Have any of you guys ever ridden in South Africa? Going to the land of Tarzan and Jungle Jim has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I guess that I would have to get my speed up pretty high since lions and elephants can go about 40 mph. Hope I don't run into any cheetahs.

I've not been there, but if you go you should really bring yourself up to speed on all of the wildlife. Looks like an amazing place.

I came from South Africa and I will tell you there are real mountains for mountain biking. Not only is it one of the most beautiful countries it has everything the US have and more. You don't have to worry about the wild animals. They are located in nature reserves and private hunting farms. There are numerous biking routs and if you stay with an organized setup. Just don't advertise that you are a tourist. Thugs will rob you from you cell phone and camera. I arrange safaris to the northen part of South Africa where you will find more wild life. Reply if you want to do that too
