Recumbent - Iowa City cyclist sets national record

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I want a bike just like his. But, how do they handle in turns?

They turn great, my dream 'bent is a windcheetah trike. Amazing trikes, a bit on the costly side.

My doc told me to get a bent. Question: Is there a strong used market for them? I would think many people buy them, only to become disenchanted quickly and then try to sell them in almost new condition at a greatly discounted price.
The problem with bents is there are several different styles and it takes a few hundred miles to get your bent balance and legs so evaluation can be dicey. There is one market place on the web site: www.bentrideronline.com which is monthly webzine pulished for several yrs with all back issues online. Look on their bulletin board, (it is similar to this but only bents). Also on Google: select groups, then type: alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent for another group. You really need to ride a few to get an idea about them.
Expect to pay 1.5-2x the cost of a DF for an equivalent bike. Steve
*repaired URL/ felt something wrong but didn't have time to check it before work, poky computers a mess to open 2d window online..... Steve
