Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Carbon Wheels

Been a while since my first post, was just wondering something about carbon fiber wheels for fixed gear/ss bikes. Although I'm not considering getting them anytime soon, let alone still in the process of converting my first bike, I would just like to know if there is a more advantageous placing of the wheel. I'm just shooting my mind but if they were placed in the rear that would make skidding easier because of less weight? Do people mainly do whatever they feel is good with them or is their a proper usage if you were to only use one. I'm still searching the forums for an answer, but thanks in advance for helping out a beginner.

rear carbon wheels are usually harder to come by (track wheels - and not aerospokes) so they are usually on the front. as far as for skidding and non racing on the track stuff i'm sure it is pretty negligible aside from aesthetics..

I don't know how the hubs are bonded to the carbon, but it seems that skidding could possibly overstress the bond and and break the hub out from the wheel.

Why would someone want their back wheel lighter for skids, whouldn't you want it heavier for more effective stopping ? Unless you're competing in the longest skid...hmm..

Yeah. You should be getting carbon wheels 'cause they're sexy and blingy. If you're into that sort of thing. Which I'm not. Not to say that there's anything wrong with that.
