Anyone else thinking of doing this?

It looks like a fun ride for a good cause. A bit longer than I normally tackle - I'm a commuter/errand riding type - and maybe a bit short for the dedicated roadies out there, but worth a shot!

I had been thinking about it, can probably manage it. Used to do the Golden Triangle with the
Elbow Valley CC. (that would kill me if I tried that at my current fitness level) Ummm, just
read the minimum pledge figure. Don't know that many people to ask.

I'm shamelessly begging everyone at work for a $10 pledge. So far quite a few have said "don't be silly, I'll give you $20." :) (they have also said things like "you're completely insane"...)

I'm scared to do the Golden Triangle in a CAR, never mind a bike. That canyon into Golden is frankly the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life.

Talking to one older couple who did it on a tandem, here's how the conversation went at the bottom of
Sinclair Canyon ( into Radium, way more *fun* than Kicking Horse )

Husband to Wife "How fast were we going?" (speedo on the rear bars)

Wife to Husband " Don't know "

H to W " Is that thing bust again!?"

W to H "No, it's working"

H to W " So why don't you know the speed?"

W to H "Well it only goes up to 99km right?"

Oh, I know Sinclair Canyon well! I worked for Parks in Kootenay one summer. We went through there twice a day, from bunkhouse to park offices. I did that on a bike ONCE.

The bunkhouse was at the West Gate, pretty well at the end of that looong downslope, and we had to vacate it on Friday nights because the stink of overworked car brakes was so bad.

So looks like no takers on the MS tour? Ratz.
