Hey,

After searching and searching I think Im gonna go with TIME Atacs for my first pair of clipless pedals...but I dont know which ones to get. Most everything I do is trail riding, some jumping on the trails, etc...Which would you say is the best to get? XS? XE? XS Carbon?

HERES A LINK TO MOST ALL OF THEIR MODELS (http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/manufacturers/3421/)

What ya think?

It sounds like your riding and mine are similar. I have had a pair of time atac aliums and love them. I've had them for almost 2 years now and, other than chipped paint on them, they still work just like new

Just bought the XS after using the "soap bar" Time ATAC Carbons for years. I thought the XS provided the best bang for the buck.

I initially found my soap bar carbon's hard to get out of. Then I twisted the cleat as much as possible in the shoe, and they are great.

I use the XE's and have no complaints about them.

I started out on the Aliums and now have the XScarbons. I would recomend the Alium because the price is nicer ad the platform is a little more square for newbies its much more comfortable. all TIMEs have the same cleats and release mechanism. I put a little axle grease on mine when new and found some dirt to grab onto the grease. they were broken in in 1 ride due to the sanding.
if I could only get 1 pair of pedals it would be the Aliums. tough as nails yet easy to use and NOTHING to adjust. the haggard paint, after while, actually looks better than the new paint.
my XScarbons have been through he77 and back and are still like new except for the name being scraped off. the Aliums took as much of a beating and the guy I gave them to still has them as his only pedals for mt biking and got a set for his commuter bike too. he switched from SPDs to them
