Everyone seems to be thinking Cunego. He won this stage in 2004 I believe. It will be interesting to see how the GC hopefuls perform. This stage could be an early indication of final GC. I have to go with Cunego. I don't think Simoni has it this year and I don't see any other pure climber that can challenge him.

Sella. He might not take the stage, but he'll be in the mix. Watch out for Parra too.

No predictions but I'm hoping Simoni starts to put his stamp on this race. But the best thing would be if Cunego were leading on Zoncolan (stage 17) and then one of his teammates worked with Simoni to pull him back and drop him, giving Simoni the lead.

Nice call! Lampre has no such rider, however. In fact, I think the one advantage Simoni has is a stronger team, with Ricco and last year's mountain goat, Piepoli.

Don't forget that Simoni also has Mayo. Not Mayonaise but the Iban type

I think it's too early in the race and too easy a climb for the GC guys to start fighting it out. Ricco is a good choice. I could also see Rebellin going for a stage win. Looks like a perfect one for Di Luca too, but I think he may be harbouring GC ambitions and may want to keep his powder dry for a while.

HOLY CRAP!!! Look who finished 10th. I about pooped myself. That is pretty amazing. I shouldn't get so worked up about it, but what if DZ is a blossoming gc contender?!?! Okay, wishful thinking, but still an impressive result for him. Hope it's a sign of things to come.

Funny nobody noticed the 4th of the stage today:
Andy Schleck from Luxembourg. First Grand Tour for this 21 year old brother of Frank Schleck. Many experts say he will be better than his 26 year old brother. Looking forward to the next mountain stages.
Who knows, one day the 4th Luxembourger in history to win the Tour de France after Frantz, Faber and Gaul...
what was going on with Joan Horrach's leg? did anyone else see that? looked like he had a grapefruit growing on top of his thigh!
