a teaser catalog came in to the shop today, showcasing a few of the '08 specialized bikes

included in their lineup is a 6-model deep line of langsters - including (off the top of my head) the:

-seattle (green, trick looking alum fenders, bent bars)
-new york (taxi scheme, flat bars?)
-chicago (labeled "Gangster" on the top tube, black)
-london (brit paint scheme, track bars, keirin grips)

also i believe the standard langster is offered.

also this year is a SS version of the tricross! track ends - sweet! wish i had more time to check out the catalog today for more specs, but just wanted to give a quick rundown of what i saw.

boo ra ka shah

there's also a boston and a san francisco

boston has track drops and keirin grips (needs a beer holder or something)

SF has risers

The only one that actually strikes me as having anything to do with the city it's named after is the seattle, which also comes with a handlebar coffee holder. the rest of them just have a color scheme that may or may not have anything to do with their namesake city. SF needs to come with an aerospoke, and boston doesn't have a drop of green anywhere on it. needs some irish or red sox coloring. and some beer.

I saw the 08 catalog at my LBS yesterday...and the Langsters look nice. The Seattle variant received a chuckle from me: lush green paint color, coffee cup holder, fenders & rear rack, and even a small coffee cup emblem on the seat tube.

Also in the lineup was a classic color scheme that looks very similar to the 07 Bianchi Fremont.

the chicago also has the word gangster on it.

and the london says god save the queen

What the hell would the Philly Langster say: "Yo, Adrien!" on the TT?
Would it have a cheesesteak holder?
And a headbadge depicting a political machine?

Yes it probably would have a cheesesteak holder considering the NY has a taxi theme. I found them all pretty disturbing personally.

I'm writing a letter to specialized requesting a Dallas bike with stirrups for pedals and at least one revolver holster. Maybe have an elephant trampling a gay pride parade on the tt, so long as we're rolling with stereotypes.

Imagine actually owning and riding any of these in the respective cities. Street cred would reset to zero (except the TX one)

nah a use all cheesesteak/pretzel/pistol holder would pretty much sum it all up.

for added philly-ness it could say E-A-G-L-E-S on the TT.

The Philly one would be similar to the NYC one, except it would be a stock Langster underneath an actual taxicab.

San Francisco should definitely come with shorter gearing and the ability to fold so we can take it on the train!

****, the only bike there should be is a minneapolis bike with a grainbelt color scheme.

Edit: there should be an Anchorage Bike with Moosehorn Bars and fur

ryanday

Milwaukee version with a beer holder and a bottle opener integrated somewhere into the frame. And it should be cheese-colored.

the SF one comes but gets stolen and traded for meth. the new york one comes already having been hit by a taxi.

there was talk on the nyc board about how the boston one should have a crappy faux-tribal or barbed wire tattoo, and a hat with a pre-scuffed brim. brah.

The Cleveland model should be a fixed gear CX. Actually they should just call it the Euclid.

thebristolkid

Oh...nevermind...yinz guys don't get it.

Don't you mean Daaawnie Iris? The PGH model would be bare steel, with 30x20 gearing, and include cole slaw and fries.

Check the color scheme on my ride...a few of us out here get it.

The Houston version would come tig-welded to a roof rack.

Ahh but that requires getting the Pasadena version. The Pasadena version is actually the SS cross bike painted safety orange (with matching hard hat), pulling a trailer with the mini tig welder to affix the bike to the car rack. Of course due to OSHA standards the bike cannot be fixed, but has to be coaster brake.

mykrrrr
05-16-07, 08:57 PM
...and official "hi I can have 3 unexcused absences before I get can get repremanded by my non-union manager" or "I punch in and go to the bar across the street to get hammered then punch out" or "I walk around the plant, play cards and drink coffee all day" or "I'm 'injured' but still get $25/hr to sweep up the plant w/a broom" UAW member card.
fixed that for ya...but yes all those reasons have happened in the past.

With that said, I'm all about the Detroit edition.

Miami one comes with cell phone, radio, coffee holder and fake brakes. It's orange with blood splatter and has a bullseye on the back of the seat so motorists can spot you easier. Optional 35 mm gun and airbags for the safety concious.

kyle!
05-16-07, 09:17 PM
the san diego one comes with bad haircuts.
