I have some questions in regards to getting into road racing. I know the differences in the races, TTs, Crits, etc.

My name questions are about the category's? whats the difference in 5, 4, 3...etc? What determines where you race?

I figure being new I would fall under Cat5, but how do you move up?

Any links would be great to or even first hand experiences from folks.

USA Cycling's website has the USCF rules...should answer the questions you have on the different categories and how to move up.

Hey Lost,

Under Road cycling there's a sub-forum for road bike racing. Have a look around there next time you're hitting the forums.

are there any good websites for introducing beginners to the sport of road racing?
