whenever I am out riding, I constanstly see people not wearing their helmets correctly, they are either pushed way back on their heads, no helmet at all, or else the straps for the ears are not pushed up underneath the ear like they should be, they are down under the chin, should I show them how to wear their helmet properly, or just let them find out the hard way what happens when you wear a improperly fitted helmet.

If they are loved ones by all means do correct them. If they bought their helmets from X-mart: Let them sue X-mart for not having someone size them properly. If they bought them from a LBS: The LBS should have properly fitted the helmet before purchase. Assuming that the LBS did what it was supposed to do the ball is now in the hands of the consumer. One more thing every QUALITY helmet that I've ever seen / sold has fitting instructions in the box so there is no excuse for their stupidity.

Crazy Cyclist, should you help them out? Sure, why not! If the roles were reversed and your the one wearing the helmet wrongly, wouldn't you want someone to point it out. Even if its not appreciated then so what, you've done the right thing. Someday you may just save someone's life.

Keep up the good work, what goes around comes around.

thanks fellas, Raiyn these people are not loved ones, just people I see while riding daily, some are kids (the ones that I worry about most) women and families. I'm sure some people just go to a shopping mall or wherever, buy a helmet just for looks, and don't bother reading the instructions that came with it and that is what is dangerous, also a lot of the helmets I see worn by people are way too big, maybe they bought them for thier kids too grow into, but if there kids ever get into an accident, the helmet may come off their head, and serious injury or death may result.
