gurana - you probably don't need so many gels/bars but if you feel more comfortable then bring them along. There are rest stops with food (bananas cookies and such) as well as a lunch stop. Lots of water (well 2 years ago the gap from lunch to next water was too long but I believe I remember they fixed that last year) on the route and plenty to eat at the end.
Your tool list sounds fine...better to have than not and I will be bringing similar. Your ready to go.

I don't remember there being too much food at the interim stops, or maybe they ran out. I bring 4 or 5 clif bars (usually go thru 3), a few ziplocs with 1 scoop of cytomax powder to mix with water at the rest stops, spare tube / levers, patch kit, toolkit, phone and wallet. Don't forget to put on the sunscreen!
The stops are at miles 10, 21, 34 (lunch), 53 (yes, 19 miles after lunch), and the finish at 63-64. The first two stops are very close together, but they are shared with the shorter 35 mile ride. I still force myself to have a lot of water and a 1/2 or full clif bar at each stop. They also had bananas and bagels at the ride beginning as well.
As I said, as long as you manage hydration btw lunch and mile 53 it's quite a doable ride.

That ziplock baggy for the cytomax powder is a good idea... if it weren't so bulky, I'd bring something like what I keep my kid's formula powder (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2736618&cp=2255981.2256160.2256164&parentPage=family) in when we go out.

I have fallen off the wagon for a couple of weeks, but still planning on riding. My wife is coming along too, and plans to ride the 15 or 31mile rides. Lookin' forward to the weekend.

I went out a rode 80 miles with 7500' of mountain climbing in 5:30 today. I think I'm ready. :)

2 years ago, the reason there was such a gap between lunch and the next stop was that we were dilly-dallying so much they closed up shop and went home before we got there!
For any ride over 50 miles in hot weather, I usually have a couple of packs of ShotBlox or Sport Beans, a Mojo bar or some such crunchy thing, maybe a banana, and extra Cytomax powder to mix with water from the rest stops. I may also pack a pb&j wrap, too.
Then I'll go through about half of the food, all of the fluid/cytomax, and feel great. I'm used to long rides with just a stop at a 7-11 or other convenience store for water, so I'm just more comfortable sticking with my own food patterns.
Whatever you do though. . . if you count on gatorade or other energy drink, bring your own powder to mix!!!

A possible way to identify/connect with other BF riders in Lancaster? Pinned to the jersey, it may help this large group pull together . . .

Mirona, you bringing that camera of yours? I know Beth will have hers ... Sock cam will be there, too.
And SpongeDad's bringing extra tubes for me. Because I'm keeping my LBS in the black by my purchase of them this summer. Can't carry all the tubes I'll need for this one ride. Seriously, wait till you'all see the hole left in my rear wheel by the nail last month. Had another flat tonight -- I'm learning the meaning of the phrase, "That doesn't sound so good."
Beth, that's awesome!
But will I have to get close to read it?

so would "BF Name" be RacerMike and "Alias" be Mike? I like it. One suggestion would be to arrange to leave some of these in a predefined area so that late arrivers could grab one and pin it on in the event that they catch the group. Alternately, someone could bring the extras and the catcher-uppers could get one when they catch up. It shouldn't be hard for them to realize they have found the group if everyone has one of these on.

I'll have my camera with me to document the ride.
I always keep it in a BentoBox or in one of my jersey pockets to get photos of automobile drivers as they do stupid things.

I could see saftey pinning that to my jersey like a racing number or something. I got dibs on #1!!
I'm not bringing anything. No food. No drinks. No tools. No tubes. No patches. Just a pack of smokes and my ID in case I need to be rushed to the hospital. Lancaster general is on the top 100 list for American hospitals.Oh and a box straped to my bike rack with nothing in it. Ride like a native.

I'm glad you're carrying your smokes...I can just bum off of you and save a few grams of weight! You gonna have matches or a lighter too? :D

Funny - you folks who haven't ridden in this area don't know how true this is.
Oh, and the bike has to be a single-speed, no frills kinda ride. And if you're a girl, you must be wearing a dress. A long one.

You got it, Mike -
Another thought: I will resize this appropriately, save it as a JPEG, and put it out for anyone to print ahead of time (with extras available the day of the ride).
And you all can be any number you want to be :)

The joke at my church during the 2006 Tour de France was that Floyd Landis could easily make his bike go faster by putting an empty wooden milk crate on the back. They say the same thing about me when I ride to church.

I got out three times this week so far. I did 15, 20 and 45miles. lest the hills get me I'll be alright. I'm going to do some hills again this weekend to make sure I still got it in me. I love hills when I get to the top of them!!!

Last note for tonight - Keep me in the loop for the Saturday ride. We are getting into Lancaster on Friday night, but I have a meeting to attend in Harrisburg Saturday morning until about 12, then I'll be back in Lancaster around 1:00pm, so anytime after that I'd love to hook up with some BF folks to meet and go ride.

I guess that's better than 95F but it's still hotter than I like. In fact it would be the hottest weather I've ridden in all summer. :( Good thing we're starting early.

I agree, I have been riding all week and the weather has been downright hot and soggy. I went out last night and it was the coolest of all week. I'll take 89, hopeing for less though, but I guess that not going to happen.

You'll have to search around - there were at least 2 rounds of ordering for these (IIRC minimum order was 25 items). SoCal has it's own BF jersey and so may Texas. I would search the the Foo, General Cycling and Road forums to see if anyone is doing another round.

It's a GPX file, so import it as a course to training center. Then do a 'send to device'. It will put it on your garmin. Then going to training in the menu, and run the course. You can still see all your normal screens as well, but it will have it all mapped out and give you basic direction (compass too if you go off course).
EDIT: I just realized something... I think training center needs it as a *.tcx file. I'll map out the cue sheet for the full metric this weekend and resend out the tcx file when it's done.

Weather Channel as of this date/time projects high of 76 degrees and 60% chance of precipitation. Of course, forecasts that far out tend to be fairly unstable. At least that one doesn't jinx much.

I drove through Harrisburg on the way to Binghamton yesterday. I-81 north of Harrisburg was a series of lane closures which had traffic backed up for miles in spots. What a pain. I bet we were stopped for almost 2 hours total. I'm not sure if I'll come back that way since I don't want to get caught in that going south to towards Lancaster.
Just converted the *.gpx files into *.tcx and *.crs for training center. Should work now.

Mapquest puts you on I-476 / Clarks Summit, PA near Scranton, PA to get you down to Lancaster. If the lane restrictions on I-81 were south of there, you should be pretty safe.
