Hi guys, I'm mapping out my commute from Sherman Oaks to Glendale (trying to find the safest route with the least traffic) and I can't figure out how to get a route slip off of the map. Routeslip.com allows you to print one up with the names of the streets on it. Does Bikely.com allow the same thing? It gives you a place for Notes, but I can't figure out how to then access those notes! Sigh...will someone please help out this blond? :p :o

Under the Show menu, select Cue Sheet.

Thanks, Jeff, but it doesn't give me that option. It says Whole Route and Elevation Profile, but no Cue Sheet. :(

Wow, I haven't looked at the mirror lately, but I think I've turned into a blond ... lol
I don't see Cue Sheet as an option under Show. All I see is "Whole Route" and "Elevation Profile". I know others have created cue sheets, but I can't for the life of me determine how to do that either. I have my blond moments too ...:roflmao:

You need to save the route first.

I did save it and named it. I even tried opening up a public route and I still don't get Cue Sheet under Show.

Actually you are right...something bogus is going on, they might have discontinued the Cue Sheet feature. All my old routes have Cue Sheets but I can't get it to work on something new...I haven't used Bikely in a while.
I attached a screen shot to prove I'm not crazy...

Oh, I didn't think you crazy, I just figured I was doing something "blond"-like. :p

Aha, search in the Bikely forums...you need at least five commented points to create a cue sheet.

Seems to be like that for a while. When I first tried bikely, it was over a month ago, and even then, I didn't have any Cue Sheet options.

It just worked for me. It may be that there is a minimum number of notes needed before the cue sheet option works. When I had 2-3 notes it didn't work, but for 5+ it did.

 That blows. Fine, I'll go back and add more comments (assuming I can).
Thanks for your help! :)

IMHO, routeslip.com is more intuitive, and more useable.
Sorry, I'm in customer service mode ... useability is the key!

I kept waffling over the two for a while...neither have Auto-Routing though. BikeRouteToaster saves a lot of time when the auto-routing works. Since I got my Edge though I haven't really used Routeslip or Bikely. In fact I really like Google Earth for managing and drawing routes - it doesn't have all the bike related features but It's nice having reliable desktop software.

Yea, I know what you mean. I have used DeLorme Topo, and it tries to plot a route based on the points I plot on the map. It's kinda clunky at first, but once you get used to it, it works out pretty good. The only thing I don't like is sometimes, if you don't put points close together, it will try to route to a highway, and you end up having to modify the route. One knock on routeslip.com is that if you wanted to change the start point, it becomes impossible.

Ok, I think I got the hang of it now. With bikely, you put your turn direction and street name in the notes field. Now I feel like a customer ... doh!

So you should be able to make up our Memorial Day Saturday ride now!

I was about to say. Routeslip seems like a clunky beast compared to bikely.
I usually use bikeroutetoaster since it has auto follow for the streets. Export the gpx file and then upload it into bikely and edit as necessary. Best of all worlds.

I have no knowledge of either of those sites, but I recently found a site that does something similar. Neat stuff!

http://www.mapmyride.com/Why don't you tap the wealth of information gleaned from cyclist from the area ,ie. me. The most direct route is Riverside to Sonora by G.P. Sonora to Glenoaks. I also like to use Chandler. It's less traveled but jogs around the No Ho district. Once in Burbank there is a nice path down the center that eliminates the double red lights. Chandler to Keystone in Burbank and Keystone to Riverside .

You up for joining me for laps through the park on the way? It's much more fun that way!

Okay, I'm not sure if Vertical Bob is talking to 3F or me, and I'm not sure if it's Vertical Bob that Magicant is inviting along on laps or 3F or me :p , but regardless, I don't need a route and I'm always up for laps at GP (duh ;) ). What I NEED is to figure out how to get from home to Glendale to home without being smushed by a motorist. The traffic around Glendale at night is BRUTAL. Case in point, I almost got taken out by a bus last night and then again when I foolishly went between two cars (yes, in the middle of the two right lanes to avoid the damn bus. Neither car saw me, and I saw my life flash before my eyes). So, with Bikely, I'm hoping to map out several routes and then through trial and error (hopefully not of the "death or dismemberment by car" kind), I will find a route that I feel comfortable enough taking on a regular basis. It may not exist. And personally, I prefer Chandler too, Bob, but getting there from GP isn't easy, nor is getting from the bike path (where it ends on Los Feliz) to Brand Blvd. Both ways blow!
