Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Spare parts as decoration

Since I finally have some time off, I decided to clean up my apartment a little bit and get some of the spare parts out of the way. Personally, I really like the geometric patterns of things like cogs, chainrings and wheels, so why not hang them on the wall? (please excuse the crappy photos)

Anyone else like to hang their spare parts and stare at them contemplatively?

I'm doing this as soon as I get home! It looks pretty tight.

too messy for my taste. a bike hung tastefully on a wall looks great, aside from that, not a fan.

i've always wanted to turn a right side crank arm into a wall mounted light fixture. crank arms are pretty versatile as wall fixtures. rig the proper spindle into the pedal threads and you've got instant coat hooks, toilet paper holders, you name it.

i would love to see them bolted onto a refridgerator and used as a door handle.

A wheel mounted ProRace as a steering wheel in the Pinto.

A slightly different flavor. I use old Campy Nuvo Record and old Superbe Pro friction shifters as keychains. They weigh practically nothing, last forever, function as a keychain should (something to hold on to) and are a gentle reminder to yourself and those who care to pay attention that you have an interest/love for bikes.

That said, I think the crank arms and c-rings are OK... I would clean them up first. If you want to make it decoration, I would spray them in contrasting paint. Perhaps a bright gloss white to make them stand off the wall a bit. As they are,..... the old grease just does not look good.

It looks pretty cool.

I have an old broken Colnago track fork thats headed for that same treatment

I've got a 52T chainring hanging on the wall, and I've got a bunch of parts and stuff hanging on a homemade coat hanger directly underneath.

my system is as follows, the tools I use everyday are in the back pack, for more serious situations crank pullers bottom brack stuff etc..and for parts like seats and pedal i like to swith out regularly stay on the one set of shelves, and then everything that I may someday possibly need gets tacked on the wall... but thats realy more the result of a space issue in my crap ass apt. and me being a packrat

I was in this house and they had a recliner chair and the lever was a bike crank with a pedal attached.
