My daughter (who lives in Hollywood and does not own a car) has now had her second bike stolen in the past two years. After the first one, a nice new Bianchi Bergamo, was stolen I managed to acquire a Peugot cruiser for free from the local bike shop and then gave it to her on a trip down south. Well someone took a liking to the Peugot and cut through the lock and took it. I now have an old Huffy hybrid with grip shifters that's functional and I plan to give it to her if I can find a way to get it down to LA without too much expense. Anyone from NorCal heading to Southern California that might be willing to let the "beater" hitch a ride? I'm in the Auburn area just outside of Sacramento. Anyway, just a thought. :)

This is off-topic, but have you considered a folding bike for her, so she can take it inside wherever she goes? I have a couple of them and they're really quite nice (and inexpensive). Great for women for many reasons also.

The Huffy is here now and just sitting in the garage so I figured I could kill two birds with one stone...it leaves my garage and she gets something else to ride. :)
