I installed an extra Garmin speed/cadance sensor on our tandem, the problem is there isn't enough room for the magnet to clear the timing chain. I've thought of maybe using epoxy and a plain magnet, but wasn't sure if that would work. The Ritchey pedals install with a allen wrench, so I can't really cover that. Any ideas?

The Garmin suplied magnet barely clears the chain in our tandem. It is just a magnet... I think any magnet, as long as the sensor reads it, it should work.

brainb was just mentioning in another thread.... rare earth magnets. They are very powerful. they can come in very small sizes and you just glue them on.

Yes, go to radio shack, buy a small rare earth magnet, and attach with superglue or silicon. I have used magnets that are 1/16" diameter glued to bladed spokes, and the computer always worked fine. They are only a couple bucks for a 5 pack, good luck!!!

Quite sure Ritchey pedals can also be removed with a pedal wrench . . .

Thanks guys, I think :-). The Ritcheys are older SPD's so I can only use a allen wrench. The Garmin magnet hits the timing chain, so I was hoping for something at would give a little more clearance. I'll head down to Radio Shack, so to attach the magnet to the crank - silicon? I can't see super glue holding on the polished crank. Thanks.
